"If you’ve raced with men on foot and they have worn you out, how can you compete with horses? If you stumble in safe country, how will you manage in thickets by the Jordan?" (Jeremiah 12:5). Our journey is intended to be more than simply "stumbling" through the days while the world "wears us out.” We are made to experience the thrill of "running with horses” and to navigate life amongst the "thickets." The RWH blog focuses on both the spiritual race of which Jeremiah speaks, and the physical act of running that I absolutely love. In short, it's where "the miles meet the Message" to provide insight, perspective & encouragement that might enable you & I to successfully run either of the races set before us. May our course be purposeful and may we be passionate in our pursuit of the abundant life He desires for us.

The Faith To Finish (Rev Tejado Hanchell)

I had shared the following with several of you earlier in the week.  However, I continue to think about the message delivered by Rev Tejado Hanchell this past Sunday and wanted to share it with a larger audience; especially a running minded audience.

Listen Here: The Faith to Finish (Hebrews 12)

Speaking of running, the sermon was right on point for those of us involved with Run For God. Building on the passage that our study rallies around (Heb 12:1), and even going Forrest Gump on us, Rev Hanchell gave us three actions that we can live out in order to 'Finish the Race.'
  1. Listen to the Cloud
  2. Lay Aside Our Weights
  3. Look to Christ Jesus
As a bonus #4, he reminded us to Lift Our Praise!

Whether you are a runner or not, we are all involved in this race through life.  Our goal is to finish and to finish strong. I hope you find encouragement in this message to run strong.  Enjoy.

NOTE:  Reverend Hanchell is the Senior Pastor at Mt Calvary Holy Church in Winston-Salem and a guest speaker at River Oaks Community Church this past Sunday, July 14.

Hebrews 12:1

New International Version (NIV)
12 Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us,
