"If you’ve raced with men on foot and they have worn you out, how can you compete with horses? If you stumble in safe country, how will you manage in thickets by the Jordan?" (Jeremiah 12:5). Our journey is intended to be more than simply "stumbling" through the days while the world "wears us out.” We are made to experience the thrill of "running with horses” and to navigate life amongst the "thickets." The RWH blog focuses on both the spiritual race of which Jeremiah speaks, and the physical act of running that I absolutely love. In short, it's where "the miles meet the Message" to provide insight, perspective & encouragement that might enable you & I to successfully run either of the races set before us. May our course be purposeful and may we be passionate in our pursuit of the abundant life He desires for us.

ROCC Run For God - Hay in the Barn (Week 5)

What another great night of RFG yesterday.  The highlights included:
  • A significant increase to our run time and distance. Everyone did great. Keep trusting the plan and it will come together.
  • The Derek Remond video (embedded below) reminds us of the helping hands we all need from time to time to get to the finish.  The spirit of perseverance is clearly shown through this 1992 Olympic moment.
  • Learning about the idea of working hard to fill our barns (our hearts) with hay (God's Word). The scripture talks about the preparation and the farm analogy makes clear the application.
  • Running 101: Injuries.  We talked about the good news / bad news truth of injuries. We then talked about the common injuries experienced with running and how best to prevent and treat. The slides below better outline these conditions.
  • A few additional 'Rules to Run by' and a rough map of the ROCC 5k
Have a great week.  You are almost halfway through your training.  Keeping working to get all that hay in the barn!
