"If you’ve raced with men on foot and they have worn you out, how can you compete with horses? If you stumble in safe country, how will you manage in thickets by the Jordan?" (Jeremiah 12:5). Our journey is intended to be more than simply "stumbling" through the days while the world "wears us out.” We are made to experience the thrill of "running with horses” and to navigate life amongst the "thickets." The RWH blog focuses on both the spiritual race of which Jeremiah speaks, and the physical act of running that I absolutely love. In short, it's where "the miles meet the Message" to provide insight, perspective & encouragement that might enable you & I to successfully run either of the races set before us. May our course be purposeful and may we be passionate in our pursuit of the abundant life He desires for us.

The Myrtle Beach "Boss-athon"

(Click on list to enlarge)
First, there were versions 1-4 of  'Dave's 5 Star Mix.' Loaded with selections from every genre and strategically sequenced to get the most out of every song. Then, last October, I introduced the 'Playlist of the People,' where many of you selected my 26.2 miles of musical inspiration.  Now, it's time. Time to go all Bruce, all race long. And above I present the meticulously created 'Boss-athon' playlist!

But why? As most of you know by now I always have a specific reason for most of what I do when it comes to prepping for a marathon.  Well, I'm glad you asked. Let me explain my list with, well, a list:

1. Why not! Are you kidding me, 58 classic Springsteen tunes without interruption. Living the life man.

2. I will be running Myrtle Beach with my good buddy Ken from Florence, SC.  And if any guy was ever 'Born to Run' it's Ken.  And of course, if anyone truly deserved to be nicknamed "The Boss" it's Ken's wife Lindsay :)

3. With the unfortunate timing of my recent back pain, and resulting missed workouts, this will not be a PR chasing race.  In fact, the goal is to finish in an upright position.  I figure if ever there was a time to go non-stop Bruce, it would be when I expected to need the most songs.

So there you have it.  Now go ahead and download a few off the list and join along two weeks from today. Oh, and despite popular belief, the marathon route does NOT include a turn down E Street.
