"If you’ve raced with men on foot and they have worn you out, how can you compete with horses? If you stumble in safe country, how will you manage in thickets by the Jordan?" (Jeremiah 12:5). Our journey is intended to be more than simply "stumbling" through the days while the world "wears us out.” We are made to experience the thrill of "running with horses” and to navigate life amongst the "thickets." The RWH blog focuses on both the spiritual race of which Jeremiah speaks, and the physical act of running that I absolutely love. In short, it's where "the miles meet the Message" to provide insight, perspective & encouragement that might enable you & I to successfully run either of the races set before us. May our course be purposeful and may we be passionate in our pursuit of the abundant life He desires for us.

Running with "Ooh-rah" Horses! (10/30/11)
Calling all runners, joggers, fast walkers, run-walkers, and soon-to-be any of the above. Meet us in Washington D.C. over the last weekend in October for the 36th annual Marine Corp Marathon. All the information is available on the official race site, (see link below), but if you aren't aware, the MCM is one of the most popular marathon events out there. In addition to the atmosphere, locale and the fact that you are surrounded by America's finest, the race is considered in the group of those selected as excellent first-timer courses. It begins in Arlington and takes you past, and through, all the D.C. area attractions; the mall, the pentagon, the monuments, and much more.
Registration opens in a few days, (see clock above blog bio), and will normally close out in a week. We have two runners on board and would love to have others join. If it will be a first for you, all the better. There is plenty of time to begin some base mileage and then to begin the official 18 week plan on June 27th. If in the Winston-Salem area, we will plan several group runs in preparation. Believe me, if you have only run a 5k before, you can do this very easily.
So make plans now. Do that spontaneous something that you would never have imagine doing. Keep those new year resolutions that you set for adventure, physical fitness, or even to check that whole marathon thing off the list. 2011 is your year to run 26.2 miles with horses! Seriously, if you have any questions, drop me an email through the profile page. Come on, you're thinking about, I know you are.....go ahead and register, you'll be glad you did. Also, there are other weekend events (5k, 10k, etc.) that make this a great family event and mini-vacation, (for them, maybe not so much for you - ha!). See you in D.C.
